Bracken’s Brown Beauty Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora ‘Bracken’s Brown Beauty’), also known as Bracken’s Brown Southern Magnolia, is a hardy cultivar of magnolia trees. Growing in a spherical pyramid shape, Bracken’s Brown Beauty Magnolias grow quickly and begin to produce flowers very early on. These magnolia trees have the characteristic large leathery, dark green leaves and soft, snowy flowers that can grow up to 6 inches across that bloom in May and June. This variety of magnolia gets its name from the unique warm brown on the back of its leaves, a cinnamony shade that is especially visible in the spring. Like some other magnolia trees, Bracken’s Brown Beauty is an evergreen tree that retains its leaves throughout the fall and winter, although they do transition into a copper shade as it grows colder and red fruit pods in the fall.
