Conservation Status

While Eastern Towhees are a common bird here in Tennessee, their populations are decreasing. Habitat destruction and the construction of subdivisions has had a big role in this decline.

Habitat

Eastern Towhees thrive in areas with dense shrub cover and leaf litter. They can be found by forest edges, overgrown fields, thickets, and backyards.
