Conservation Status

Red-shouldered hawk populations have slightly increased in recent years. The biggest threat they face is deforestation and habitat loss.

Habitat

Red-shouldered hawks can be found near swamps, mixed-deciduous forests, conifer forests, and suburban areas that are mixed into woodlands. They tend to live in areas with an open subcanopy, which makes it easier for them to hunt.
