Conservation Status

The expansion of suburban and agricultural habitat has greatly benefitted Northern Cardinals, and has caused their populations to increase.

Habitat

Northern Cardinals can often be found in areas with dense shrubs, such as forest edges, overgrown fields, backyards, thickets, young forests, and parks. Ideally, these areas will have high, outstretched branches that the Cardinals will perch on to sing.
