Conservation Status
Red-bellied woodpeckers are common and have an increasing population. They have even expanded their range northward in recent decades.
Habitat
You can find this species in most forests, woodlands, and wooded suburbs. These woodpeckers will not discriminate between deciduous and coniferous forests and can be found in many different types of trees. Occasionally, they will even climb up the side of a wooden house.
