Conservation Status
Carolina wrens are highly adaptable and are able to inhabit a wide variety of habitats. Their population and range are increasing due to forest fragmentation, which creates the dense, shrubby habitat that they prefer, along with increasing winter temperatures which pushes them northward. Bird feeders also provide them with food and allow their population to grow.
Habitat
Carolina Wrens can be found in vegetated habitats such as brushy thickets, swamps, woods, farmland, and brushy suburban yards. Ideal habitats for wrens must have moderate to dense shrub cover. Oftentimes they can be found near piles of logs or decaying timber because these structures give them cover and are usually inhabited by a number of insects for them to feed on.
